EpoxyPro EP1020 Marine Structural Bonding & Repair Epoxy 2:1
Downloads & Specifications
EP1020 is a medium-to-high viscosity epoxy system formulated for marine bonding, structural repairs, gap filling and general composite repair applications.
With a mixed viscosity of approximately 8,867 cP at 25°C, EP1020 provides significantly greater body and hold than a low-viscosity laminating resin. This makes it particularly suitable where the epoxy needs to remain in position, bridge gaps or provide a thicker bond line.
The system has a slightly amber appearance and is designed primarily for structural and repair applications where adhesion, gap filling and application control are more important than optical clarity.
Key Applications
Structural marine repairs
Fibreglass hull and deck repairs
Timber boat repairs
Bonding fibreglass to timber
Structural bonding and reinforcement
Gap filling and void repair
Bonding stringers, frames and bulkheads
Deck hardware and fitting installation
Filling cracks, holes and damaged laminate
General marine and composite fabrication
Technical Characteristics
Mix Ratio
2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume.
Mixed Viscosity
Approximately 8,867 cP at 25°C, providing increased body and reduced flow compared with low-viscosity laminating systems.
Gap-Filling Capability
The higher viscosity allows EP1020 to maintain a thicker bond line and fill irregularities between mating surfaces.
Controlled Application
Suitable for applications where greater resin hold is required on angled or vertical surfaces.
Structural Bonding
Designed for bonding fibreglass, timber and compatible composite materials in marine repair and fabrication applications.
Repair and Filling
Suitable for cracks, voids, damaged laminate, timber repairs and areas requiring a higher-build epoxy system.
Marine Structural Repair
EP1020 is particularly suited to repairs where a low-viscosity wet lay-up resin such as EP1010 would have too much flow.
Its higher viscosity provides greater control when bonding structural components, filling gaps or repairing damaged areas in hulls, decks, stringers, frames and other marine structures.
For fibreglass reinforcement work, EP1020 can be used as part of a repair system, while EP1010 is better suited where rapid and complete wet-out of fibreglass cloth is the primary requirement.
Use with FS-200 Fumed Silica
EP1020 can be modified with FS-200 fumed silica to further increase viscosity and thixotropy for applications requiring greater non-sag performance.
FS-200 can be progressively added to produce heavier bonding compounds, filleting compounds and gap-filling pastes for vertical and overhead applications.
Always accurately mix EP1020 resin and hardener at the specified 2:1 ratio before incorporating FS-200.
