EpoxyPro EP8540 Core Hole Sealing & Protection Epoxy

White Mineral-Filled 4:1 Epoxy for Concrete Core Holes & Pipe Penetrations

EpoxyPro EP8540 is a two-component, white mineral-filled epoxy system developed for sealing and protecting concrete core holes, pipe penetrations and exposed concrete surfaces.

The high-build formulation fills pores, blowholes and minor surface irregularities in core-drilled concrete, creating a smooth, durable and non-porous surface prior to the installation of mechanical pipe and penetration sealing systems.

EP8540 combines a Bisphenol-A epoxy resin with a flexible polyamidoamide curing system and selected mineral fillers. Once cured, it provides excellent adhesion to properly prepared concrete and masonry, excellent moisture resistance, good chemical resistance and improved flexibility.

The white finish provides excellent visibility during application, making it easier to identify complete and uniform coverage.

Surface Preparation

Concrete surfaces must be structurally sound and free from dust, laitance, oil, grease, loose material and other contaminants that may interfere with adhesion.

Core-drilled surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned before application. Remove loose concrete and aggregate and mechanically abrade smooth or polished areas where necessary to provide a suitable surface for adhesion.

Any exposed reinforcement should be cleaned of loose rust and contamination before coating.

Mixing

Mix Part A Resin and Part B Hardener at a ratio of 4:1 by volume.

Accurately measure both components and mix thoroughly until a uniform consistency and colour are achieved. Scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing container during mixing to ensure complete incorporation.

EP8540 has a pot life of approximately 60–80 minutes at 25°C. Only mix an amount that can be comfortably applied within this working time. Higher temperatures and larger mixed quantities will reduce the available working time.

Application

Apply EP8540 by brush or roller, working the epoxy firmly into pores, blowholes and surface irregularities.

Ensure the entire core-hole surface is completely coated to produce a continuous protective barrier and smooth sealing surface.

Additional coats may be applied where required to fill deeper surface imperfections or achieve a smoother and more uniform finish.

Allow EP8540 to cure sufficiently before installing mechanical pipe seals or other penetration sealing components.

Packaging

EP8540 is supplied as a pre-proportioned 4:1 by-volume resin and hardener kit.

Storage

Store unopened containers in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, moisture and excessive heat. Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use.

Important

Technical values shown are typical characteristics. Cure time, pot life and application characteristics can vary depending on temperature, substrate condition, mixed quantity and application thickness.
