Product Coverage:
- Litre of PLUS RUST CONVERTER & PRIMER will treat/cover approximately 25 square metres.
Directions For Use:
- Remove loose scale, dirt, oil, or grease, but leave surface film of firm rust for the RUST CONVERTER to react with.
- Apply sufficient RUST CONVERTER so that rust does not reappear
- Allow to dry completely (approx. 60 minutes) before applying oil-based undercoat.
- On bare metal that has never been painted: Do NOT wash down with water. Apply product directly to metal surface. When dry, a harmless white powder may appear. Brush off before sealing the chemically primed surface with oil-based undercoat.
- On painted or previously painted metal surfaces: RUST CONVERTER will only dry when in contact with a rusted area. When the rusted area being treated is completely dry, flush of the surface with water or wipe over with a wet rag to remove any uncured product. For surfaces like wrought iron where "flash rusting" more prevalent, methylated spirits can be used.
- On corrugated, galvanised iron, or zinc-aluminium alloy or similar surfaces, (unpainted or previously painted): RUST CONVERTER will not effectively dry out. To remove uncured product and contaminants, flush the surface with water (HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM) or wash area with a hose and broom. For touch up areas, wipe over with a wet rag. To etch zinc coatings, wash down with water after 5 minutes and let dry. Apply by brushing, rolling, dipping, spraying (not pressure spray) or mopping.
Special Notes:
- This product will bleach paint, powder coated or other surfaces if allowed to run on to existing paint work. Etching of glass surfaces may also occur.
- Avoid allowing the product to run or collect into pockets of concentrated material. If they appear remove immediately with a cloth dampened with a 5% of product.
- Do not use on coloured grout or concrete with oxide colourant.
- Not suitable for use on marble or natural stone
I used to buy this from SCA and was disappointed when they stopped stocking it, very relieved to see it on your site and reasonably priced with free delivery. Just did my trailer with it (surface rust all over), and after a few coats of rustguard paint, it looks brand new. Still have heaps left over for another few projects.
Works great very happy
Excellent product.
